Mr. Leo is a respected community leader in Medellín who established a youth basketball program years ago to provide young people with a safe and positive environment where they could learn discipline, teamwork, and confidence. Through his dedication to the children and families he serves, he has become a trusted mentor and a pillar within the community.
The Colombia chapter of Just a Little Helps began with Mr. Leo and his basketball team. In 2021, founder Michelle Lewis was looking for a place to volunteer while living in Medellín and was introduced to Mr. Leo’s program. What started as supporting a local basketball team quickly grew into something much larger. Together, they expanded their efforts beyond the court to include food distributions, community outreach, and support for local families. Colombia became the very first chapter of Just a Little Helps, and Mr. Leo has played an instrumental role in its growth from the beginning. His leadership, consistency, and commitment to serving others continue to inspire the work being done throughout the community.
