Our Story
Just a Little Helps was founded on the belief that even small acts of kindness can create lasting change. What began as grassroots outreach has grown into a global humanitarian organization supporting communities through food drops, emotional intelligence programs, youth development, and sustainable initiatives across multiple countries.
Founder/CEO
Michelle Lewis is a United States Army veteran and the founder of Just a Little Helps. Born in Sri Lanka and raised in the United States, Michelle’s humble beginnings and life experiences helped shape her passion for humanitarian work and serving underserved communities around the world. After stepping away from her previous life, she dedicated herself fully to service and founded Just a Little Helps in 2021 while living in Colombia.
What began with outreach efforts and building relationships in Colombia eventually grew into a global humanitarian organization focused on food security, emotional intelligence education, youth development, and community support across multiple countries.
Through Just a Little Helps, Michelle continues to work closely with local leaders and underserved communities around the world with the belief that even small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.
Co-Founder/CFO
Rebecca Schlegelmilch is a retired First Sergeant in the United States Army, where she served for 20 years. During her time in the 82nd Airborne Division, she was also Michelle Lewis’s supervisor. Over the years, what began as a professional relationship grew into a close friendship built on encouragement, trust, and a shared passion for helping others.
When Michelle founded Just a Little Helps in 2021 after relocating to Colombia and dedicating herself fully to humanitarian work, Rebecca became the organization’s earliest and most consistent supporter. Since then, she has continued to support both Michelle’s personal journey and the growth of the organization behind the scenes.
In 2025, Rebecca spent several months in South Africa directly helping support the continued development of the Cape Town chapter and its community outreach efforts. Today, she serves as Co Founder and CFO of Just a Little Helps, helping support the organization’s mission of community driven humanitarian work across the globe.
